• Twenty years experience as a grants developer for Kootenai Medical Center and the North Idaho Rural Health Consortium (NIRHC), initiating and directing cooperative projects to improve access to health care and health information for the low-income population of rural northern Idaho.

• “North Idaho Partners in Care”, which has resulted in the creation of two New Start FQHCs, one satellite FQHC, one mobile clinic, and expansion of three volunteer-staffed free clinics in the five northern counties of Idaho, where 23 – 27% of the population is without health insurance.  http://www.partnersinhealthcare.org/index.html


• NIRHC’s telehealth network now includes teleradiology, telepathology, telepharmacy, telepsychiatry and distance learning (http://www.nirhc.org) I was responsible for the original grant proposal in 1992  - and worked as a team member on subsequent USDA, HRSA/OAT and federal earmarks for continued network development.


• North Idaho School Nursing Services Cooperative brought together 13 school districts, North Idaho College, Kootenai Medical Center and the Panhandle Health District to improve immunization rates and access to healthcare while in school for the children of the five northern counties of Idaho.



• Familiarity with a variety of evaluation tools, including logic models, run charts & dashboards. I served as a member of the NLM’s site visit review team to evaluate contracts for the Regional Medical Library system, and to make recommendations for future national strategic planning efforts.

• Over 20 years experience in research and grant writing, helping to secure over $72,000,000 in federal, state and private foundation funds. I have written successful proposals for capital campaigns, research programs, operating expenses and special projects. I have been a grant reviewer for both federal and private programs and understand how to present a proposal to make sure the reviewer can see your strong points.

I have been using electronic databases for literature reviews since 1977, and have been using the Internet since 1992. 

• Experience as speaker and educator at conferences and workshops for advanced practice nurses, public health workers, senior citizens, physicians, librarians and the general public.  I have contributed to news releases and stories explaining various technical aspects of telemedicine, healthcare systems and the use of the Internet in improving healthcare.

• Training as a meeting facilitator by the Idaho State Library. I am familiar with interactive video and webinars.

• Member of Medical Library Association’s Task Force on Health Information Literacy, examining ways to improve healthcare communication to diverse audiences and age groups.

• Member of a team of community leaders and grant writers who successfully secured an award of $60,000,000 towards a Kroc Community Center for Coeur d’Alene, ID.

• Created analytic frameworks and executed analyses of progress for federal grant programs and internal quality improvement efforts.

• Developed and managed external partnerships and contracts for long-range and strategic planning initiatives for library consortium development and telehealth in rural northern Idaho.

• Experience in developing networks of qualified subject thought leaders, technical experts, and consultants for meetings, technical consult, review, and other program activities as grant development coordinator for the North Idaho Rural Health Consortium (NIRHC).

• Experience in organizing successful conferences for 80-120 attendees having served as Program Chair and committee member in planning the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Medical Library Association’s (PNC/MLA) annual meetings. This required identifying background materials, locating appropriate venues and caterers, drafting agendas, and identifying and contracting with qualified speakers and participants, as well as designing evaluation tools and capturing outcomes to help plan for future meetings.  This also required online collaboration with colleagues in distant locations and adherence to budget constraints.
